Day 1 was a nightmare. The soup did not have any flavor and the vegetables did not satisfy my hunger. Even though I was full after my meals, it never lasted very long. I could not even finish my 2nd bowl of soup because I was so sick of it after my 1st bowl.
That night I experienced a lot of gas, bloating, and detox headaches. After all that, the scale did not move a smidgen on the morning of my 2nd day. How depressing!
With Day 1 under my belt, I brushed myself off and had 2 cups of black coffee and Vanilla Creme Stevia for breakfast. I am NOT a morning person and the thought or the smell of Cabbage Soup for breakfast, did not work for me.

I looked at the protocol for Day 2 and I was allowed cabbage soup and vegetables only. Not wanting to eat the same vegetables that are in the Cabbage Soup, my option was to make a salad or… I could make a Green Salad Smoothie!
What an awesome salad! It went down easy and was very filling and tasty. I did not experience a detox headache that day but I was belching the cucumber. At least it was a better way to get the gas out than the other alternative.

The Original ‘Cabbage Soup Diet’ Recipe

This is the original recipe for the “cabbage soup diet” that came out in the mid-1990′s. The diet calls for eating unlimited quantities of this veggie-filled dish, along with other select foods, and watch the pounds slip away. But you don’t need to be on a weight-loss plan to enjoy this hearty soup.
1 Head cabbage, chopped
6 Onions, sliced or chopped
2 Green bell peppers, chopped
1 Bunch celery, chopped
1 Bunch shallots or 1 bunch green onion, sliced
2 Chicken bouillon cubes
1 Envelope onion soup
48 ounces V8 vegetable juice
2 28 oz cans chopped tomatoes
1 Lemon, juice of
6 Crushed garlic cloves
Pepper to taste
Place all in large stock pot and bring to a boil. Simmer for 1 hour. Serve.

Ultimately, the question is “Will I lose weight fast with the Cabbage Soup Diet Recipe?” After losing 1 1/2 pounds in 2 Days, I’m not sure. I have 8-1/2 pounds left to lose in 5 days.
The word “fast” is relative. On the Healthy Weight Loss Concepts Diet Plan, I would have averaged 1 pound of weight loss per day. On the Cabbage Soup Diet, I have averaged ¾ pounds of weight loss in 2 days. Which one is faster to you?
I’m still hoping that I will experience the 10 pound weight loss in 7 days on the Cabbage Soup diet. I will need to have a consistent average of about 1.7 pounds of weight loss in the next 5 days if I’m to accomplish the Cabbage Soup Diet Recipe goal.
